"Capacity
building and sustainability is of prime importance to
IPI. After your presentation...we experienced a
surge in the number of donations and the number of individuals
volunteering to work with us in strengthening parent-child
relationships. Thank you for giving added substance....
through a presentation that was dynamic, engaging and
relevant to our needs."

During a Lunch and Learn sponsored by the Indiana Youth Institute and “Fathers
Matter” of Southwestern Indiana Ike delivered a thoughtful, compelling
message about Fatherhood and the importance of a Father in a child’s life.
As a result, “Fathers Matter” gained referrals and support from more
than 30 agencies who now understand how “Fathers Matter” programs
and services can strengthen families

• Eight percent of respondents indicated that their organizations
were in imminent danger of closing..
• More than 60 percent of participants reporting decreased
contributions attributed the drop to a decline in both the number of individual
donors and the size of their donations.
• Among organizations that use volunteers, 17 percent
used one or more in what had formerly been paid positions.
• About a third (32 percent) of organizations increased
their reliance on volunteers, whereas 9 percent experienced a decline.
Too often programs fail to plan properly or take advantage
of all the resources at their disposal when times are good. While dealing with
their day-to-day operations, organizations frequently find it difficult to plan
for the future. Add the additional stresses from a downturn in the economy and
it only gets worse. Regardless of your program’s situation, its imperative
to have a sustainability plan for resource development as seamless part of your
long-range strategic and operational plans.
